Common pregnancy-related conditions like low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, SI joint pain, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated with physical therapy.

While some in-clinic modalities are contraindicated in pregnancy, many physical therapy services are crucial for pregnant women.  Emotional and psychosocial factors are also important areas to be addressed.

Expectant moms are recommended to be evaluated by a physiotherapist prenatally to prepare for the hard work of labour and the postpartum period.  Research shows that women who receive prenatal physiotherapy have better fitness outcomes and a lower incidence of pelvic floor dysfunction and childcare related injuries.

See "HNG Women's Physiotherapy" section for further details.
